fluffy little gems of goodness, total comfort food from Vovoa's (grandmas) kitchen
Ingredients:
2 cups warm milk
5 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
2 packages dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Directions:
1. dessolve yeast in warm water
2. place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with electric mixer
3. when batter is climbing up the beaters stop mixing ( another one of Vovoa's interesting directions)
4. make sure that all of the flour is mixed in.
5. cover and let stand in a warm place for 30 minutes
6. drop by table spoonfuls into a deep fryer set on high
7. turn the do-nuts once before removing
8. when browned on both sides remove and drain off excess oil
9. shake do-nuts in a bag with 1 cup of sugar enjoy
10. you can also shake them in a bag of cinnamon and sugar or powder sugar
