My mother-in-laws recipe, who is 100% Portuguese. Ingredients:
1 cup milk |
1 cup flour |
4 eggs |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 dash salt |
sugar, for coating |
oil (for frying) |
Directions:
1. Bring milk, butter and salt to boil. Remove from stove. 2. Add flour and mix well. 3. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well. 4. Drop by teaspoonful into hot oil. 5. Fry until brown. They will turn by themselves and pop open (no oil will enter them). 6. Shake in a bag with sugar to coat. |
