Serve on cold meat sandwiches, burgers or hot dogs. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons sunflower oil |
3 red onions, thinly sliced |
1 garlic clove, thinly sliced |
1 teaspoon cumin seed |
1 teaspoon yellow mustard seeds |
3 tablespoons light brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
80 ml red wine vinegar |
1/8 teaspoon chili flakes |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat and cook onions for 8-10 minutes until softened and lightly golden. 2. Stir in garlic, cumin seeds and mustard seeds, and cook for a further minute. 3. Add brown sugar, salt, red wine vinegar and chilli flakes. 4. Simmer over medium-low heat for a further 8 minutes, until liquid has evaporated and the onions are sticky and caramelised. |
