Start dinner off with a bang! Cinnamon, Ginger, and Cayenne combine to make a lingering 'burns-so-good' feeling, that will have 'em stoking the flames with more! The shrimp is drizzled with a cinnamon and ginger infused mirin (sweetened sake). Read more . I serve it with a minty couscous to help cut the heat. Ingredients:
1 lb shrimp, 20 count. peeled and deveined. tails on. |
3/4 c. mirin |
1/4 tsp ginger |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 tsp cayenne (or to taste) |
pinch of salt |
3 tbsp canola oil |
green onion flakes to finish |
Directions:
1. In small saucepan over low heat, add mirin, ginger and cinnamon. Stir occasionally. 2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil just until it begins to shimmer. 3. Toss shrimp in cayenne and salt, add to skillet and sauté for 5 minutes or until firm. Stirring often. 4. Shrimp are done when they turn a recognizable pink color and curl. 5. Remove from heat, drain excess oil, add about half of the mirin infusion. 6. Arrange shrimp on a plate, drizzle with mirin and top with green onion. |
