Another favorite recipe that I like to fix occasionally when I am in the mood for hot and spicy foods. These are very tasty and in my opinion better at room temperature than cold, but good either way. Enjoy Ingredients:
2 cups water |
3/4 cup white vinegar |
2 tablespoons granulated sugar |
1 tablespoon crushed mustard seeds |
4 garlic cloves thinly sliced |
4 bay leaves |
2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
1 pound fresh green beans trimmed |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients except beans in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. 2. Cover then reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. 3. Add beans then cover and simmer 10 minutes until beans are cooked but still crisp. 4. Transfer beans and liquid to a shallow serving dish and refrigerate covered overnight. 5. Serve cold or at room temperature. |
