Just a herby idea I had Ingredients:
1 cup flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1/2 cup water |
1/4 teaspoon harissa |
1/2 teaspoon cumin |
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme |
salt & pepper (to taste) |
Directions:
1. cut salsify roots in half & boil in salted water for 30 minuites. 2. rinse in cold water. 3. peel & cut into 3 inch pieces. 4. make the batter:blend all the indgredents in a food processor for 30 seconds. 5. heat the oil in a large frying pan. 6. dip the salsify in the batter and fry in oil until crisp & golden turning. 7. keep warm whil cooking the remainder. 8. serve hot with lemon wedges. |
