After carefully perusing the cheese ball / dip recipes here, I was inspired to create my own version using a few different ingredients I had on-hand. It came out surprisingly tasty so I wanted to share my creation. Ingredients:
1.5 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese (12 ounces total) |
6 ounces crushed pineapple, drained |
2 tablespoons candied cherries, finely chopped |
2 1/2 ounces water chestnuts, finely chopped |
1 cup mixed nuts, finely chopped (i use a mixture of hazelnuts, pistachios, and pecans) |
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped |
1 tablespoon dried onion |
1 tablespoon seasoning salt (i use mccormick's season-all) |
Directions:
1. blend ingredients well. 2. cover and chill overnight (I find that this recipe lends itself to be more of a dip rather than a ball, so I prefer to just keep it in a bowl rather than try to force it into a ball-type shape). 3. serve with crackers or crudites. |
