May be pan fried, deep fried or broiled in oven. My family loves this sandwich and I usually pan fry it like you would do for French Toast Great with potato salad! Powdered sugar on it is very special- got to try it! Read more ! Ingredients:
6 slices of turkey |
6 slices of swiss cheese |
6 slices of other favorite meat ( pastrami, salami, roast beef, ham etc. ) |
12 slices of good quality white ( no not supermarket stuff ) or egg bread |
batter |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 tbs baking powder |
1/4 tsp salt |
1 1/2 cups milk or water |
1 egg |
oil/ butter combinations to pan fry |
or oil for deep frying |
powdered sugar ( yes! optional ) |
Directions:
1. Make sandwich, using butter, mayo, mustard both or whatever you prefer and layer on meat and cheese 2. Combine batter ingredients and dip both sides of sandwich in batter. 3. Pan fry, or deep fry ( 360F ) or broil both sides ( few inches from heat to brown batter ) till sandwich is golden and cheese is melted. 4. Optional: dust with powder sugar ( by the way it really does taste great on this type of sandwich! ) 5. Serve at once |
