Ingredients:
2/3 cup(s) granulated sugar |
1 tablespoon(s) flour |
1/8 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/2 teaspoon(s) grated lemon rind |
2 teaspoon(s) lemon juice |
1/4 teaspoon(s) nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon |
6-7 cup(s) apples pared, cored, thinly sliced |
1 tablespoon(s) butter |
1 package(s) prepared pie crust |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 2. Sprinkle small amount of flour in bottom of 9-inch pie plate. Line plate with one- half package of prepared pie crust. Trim edges to fit pan. 3. Combine all ingredients except apples, butter and prepared pie crust. 4. Place half of apples in lined pie plate, with sharp edges facing inward; sprinkle with half the sugar mixture. 5. Top with rest ol the apples, heaping them in center, then with remaining sugar mixture. Dot with butter. 6. Moisten pie crust rim with water. 7. Place second prepared crust on top of apples. Trim upper crust to approx. 1/2-inch beyond edge of lower crust. Press to seal. Finish pastry edge. 8. Bake at 425 degrees F. for 40 to 50 minutes until crust is nicely browned. Cover edges, if needed to prevent excessive brownin. |
