A fried cookie that has a mild taste and is low in sugar. Ingredients:
6 eggs |
3 tablespoons sugar |
6 tablespoons heavy cream |
1 pinch nutmeg |
1 teaspoon salt |
6 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Beat eggs lightly. 2. Add sugar and cream, beat well. 3. Blend in nutmeg and salt. 4. Add flour (start with less than 6 cups and add until you can roll dough out thin), mix well to make a smooth dough. 5. Roll out to 1/16 thickness. 6. Cut into 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 rectangles. 7. Make a slit crosswise in the center and slip one end through slit, to make a bow . 8. Deep fry in hot deep fat (350 F) until delicately browned, about 1-1/2 minute 9. Drain on paper towels. 10. Cool. 11. If desired shake in a plastic bag with powdered sugar, or a cinnamon sugar mixture. |
