This is the family's favorite slaw recipe. It's a great one for topping pulled pork sandwiches or slaw dogs. The dressing is very good used on sliced cucmbers instead of cabbage also. Ingredients:
1 to 1-1/2 cups real mayo |
1/4 cup white sugar |
1/4 cup red wine vinegar (no subsitutions) |
1 medium to large onion finely chopped |
1 tsp salt |
! pkg shredded cabbage or 1 small head shredded |
Directions:
1. Whisk together mayo, sugar, vinegar , onion and salt. 2. Toss with shredded cabbage and chill for at a few minutes. A few hours is better but not a necessity. 3. If you like sweeter slaw, increase the sugar and vinegar in equal proportions. 4. Red wine vinegars can vary quite a bit in flavor. My favorite for this recipe is Pompeian brand; good flavor without being too strong. |
