FANTASTIC BUTTERMILK PANCAKES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Devon Estate in Addison, Texas in 2001. Ingredients:
1 egg |
1 cup buttermilk |
1 cup sour cream |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 cup all purpose flour |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in bowl. 2. In another bowl whisk together egg, buttermilk and sour cream. 3. Add to flour mixture and gently mix together being sure not to over mix. 4. Let rest 10 minutes while batter rises. 5. Heat griddle or skillet over medium heat to 375 then grease griddle with shortening. 6. Griddle is ready when a few drops of water bubble and skitter rapidly around. 7. For each pancake pour scant 1/4 cup batter onto hot griddle. 8. Cook pancakes until puffed and dry around edges. 9. Turn and cook other sides until golden brown. |
