My Mom calls this the recipe on the door because that's where she kept it. She said it came from a magazine in the 70s. My Fancy Franks turn out a little different each time because I like to try variations. It's a family favorite and a complete kid recipe (although I still love it). You may find you want to add a touch more tomato sauce. I also like to throw in a few fresh tomatoes. Ingredients:
1/2 cup onion, chopped |
2 garlic cloves, chopped |
1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped |
8 hot dogs, sliced |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
14 ounces tomato sauce |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1 teaspoon thyme |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper |
12 -16 ounces pasta |
2 cups cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Cook pasta as directed on package. 2. In a separate pan, saute the onion, garlic, bell pepper and hot dogs in oil until onions are translucent. 3. Add tomato sauce, spices, and pasta. 4. Stir in cheddar and stir until melted. |
