FAMOUS STRING BEANS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Brooks Estate in Waxahachie, Texas in 1994. Ingredients:
2 pounds string beans |
salted water |
1 teaspoon dried savory |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 medium white onion |
3 cloves garlic |
1 tablespoon flour |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1 teaspoon vinegar |
1 beef bouillon cube |
Directions:
1. In saucepan cook string beans and savory in enough salted water to barely cover. 2. In separate pan melt butter then brown onion and garlic. 3. Stir in flour then sugar and vinegar and slowly stir in water from beans to make sauce. 4. Add bouillon cube and drained beans. |
