I found these in a New Zealand cookbook they were so easy to make and delicious. Made famous during the world war. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Ingredients:
1/2 cup flour |
1/3 cup sugar |
2/3 cup coconut |
3/4 cup rolled oats |
50 g butter |
1 tablespoon golden syrup |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
2 tablespoons boiling water |
Directions:
1. Mix together flour, sugar, coconut and rolled oats. Melt butter and golden syrup. Dissolve baking soda in the boiling water and add to butter and golden syrup. Stir butter mixture into the dry ingredients. Place level tablespoonfuls of mixture onto cold greased trays. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes or until golden. Makes 20. |
