this is a recipe from an inn in a town that is very special to me..in Millbrook New York Ingredients:
1 green apple |
1/4 cup water |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
dash of corn starch |
3-1/2 sheets phyllo pastry |
cottage cheese or chocolate |
1 tablespoon caramel |
olive oil |
Directions:
1. Poach the green apple until tender. Peel, then slice into thin wedges. Saute with 1/4 cup water, nutmeg and cinnamon with a dash of corn starch. 2. When cool, place in middle of cupcake pan lined with 3-1/2 sheets of phyllo pastry. Spread cottage cheese or chocolate over apple mixture. Wrap the phyllo pastry over the apple mixture, then baste with olive oil. Ends will be standing up rather like a flower. 3. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce over pastry. Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven set at 475 degrees. |
