Often carrots and tomatoes are added to the recipe. I omitted them since they were present in my other Ethiopian dishes. I had a bit of cooked broccoli left over so this recipe is not so traditional but quite delcious. Read more . However if you want more traditional add some cooked sliced carrots to the recipe Ingredients:
5 cups string beans |
2 onions, diced |
3 cloves garlic, diced |
several carrots cooked and sliced ( i did not use ) |
berbere- 1-2 tsp ( see separate post for this ethiopian spice blend) |
salt to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook beans in boilng water 2. Drain and coarse chop 3. Saute the onions then garlic in some oil 4. Mix in the green beans along with the cooked carrots 5. Stir in berbere ( see my separate post for this spice blend ) and salt to taste. 6. Note: I added some leftover cooked broccoli |
