Originally appeared on an AOL cooking board back in the late 90's. Don't know who Esther was or how to thank her, but our family has enjoyed this meatloaf time and again! It can be made with ground beef, meatloaf mix, ground turkey, or any combination. My guys don't care for bits of veggies in their food, so I use 1 tsp. onion powder instead of the chopped onion.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 cup dry breadcrumbs
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, onion or onion powder, sage, salt and pepper; mix well.
3. Place in a 9 loaf pan that's been coated with nonstick cooking spray.
4. In a small bowl, combine the remaining four ingredients and spread over the top of the meat mixture.
5. Bake 50-60 minutes or until center is no longer pink.
