A very easy side dish perfect for holidays. So many people don't like oysters, but those who do, love them, so, keep 'em out of the dressing, but put a dish of these on the side! Ingredients:
4pts cleaned oysters, with liquid |
1t worcestershire sauce |
several dashes hot sauce |
favorite season salt blend |
1pt half and half |
1box club style crackers, finely crushed, but reserve about 1/4 of them, coarsely ground |
1 1/2 sticks butter(could probably get away with 1 stick, but remember, this serves a lot |
1t old bay seasoning |
fresh ground pepper |
**edited to add the butter amount... sorry |
Directions:
1. Dump oysters and liquid into a deep 9X13 glass casserole dish.(if the liquid is so much it comes up, over the oysters, drain some off :) 2. Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, season salt and black pepper and mix together. 3. Top with finely crushed crackers. 4. Pour in half and half slowly. This should reach just to the bottom of the crackers, but no more, so, if it seems to be too much, just don't use the full pint! :) 5. Melt butter and then combine with the Old Bay 6. Add coarse cracker crumbs over the top, and drizzle whole thing with the Old Bay butter. 7. Bake at about 375 for 45-60 minutes, until heated through and top is golden brown. |
