This bread is best served sliced and toasted before serving. It's great to bake this in greased coffee cans sprinkled with cornmeal. Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour |
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast |
1/2 tablespoon white sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon baking powder |
1 cup warm milk |
1/4 cup water |
sprinkle of cornmeal |
Directions:
1. 1. Place ingredients in the bread maching pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Select the dough cycle. 2. 2. Grease two coffee cans or one loaf pan and sprinkle with cornmeal. 3. 3. Remove dough from bread machine and either divide in half to accommodate the coffee cans or put entire amount in the loaf pan. 4. 4. Cover and allow to rise until double in size. 5. 5. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or longer for a darker chewier crust. |
