Another heirloom recipe I got from my great aunt, who (I think) got it from her great aunt. My aunt has served this on Banana Spice Cake and on Chocolate Cake. I'm sure it's delicious on any kind of cake though! The prep time is a guesstimate. I haven't tried making this myself yet. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups crisco vegetable shortening |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
1 (14 ounce) can evaporated milk |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Cream Crisco, sugar, and butter together. 2. While whipping, gradually add evaporated milk. 3. Add vanilla extract. 4. Continue to whip until soft peaks form. |
