These are very good, must make them again now that I found my recipe. Hope you enjoy them. They look like a elephant foot print. Ingredients:
1/2 cup scalded milk |
2 tablespoons shortening |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 package of yeast |
1/4 cup lukewarm water |
1 egg |
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 3/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
melted butter or margarine |
Directions:
1. Combine scalded milk, shortening, sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. 2. Cool to lukewarm. 3. Soften yeast in the lukewarm water. Add to first mixture. 4. Stir in egg and add to flour all at once. 5. The dough will be very stiff and should be worked till smooth. 6. Turn out on floured board and let rest 10 minutes 7. Roll to rectangular shape, spread with melted butter and sprinkle on some of the sugar and cinnamon mixture. 8. Roll up and cut into 1 pieces. Roll each piece flat in cinnamon sugar mixture. 9. Place on greased cookie sheets, and let rise for 30 minutes. 10. Bake at 300* for 15 to 18 minutes. 11. Glaze if you wish- 12. Glaze: 13. 2 teaspoons oleo 14. 1 teaspoon vanilla 15. 1 1/2 Tablespoons milk 16. Dash of salt 17. 1 cup powdered sugar 18. Heat ontop of stove, do not boil |
