From the Kripalu cookbook - an amazing, hearty bread full of flavor. Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups warm water |
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast |
2 1/2 tablespoons honey |
2 1/2 tablespoons molasses |
1/4 cup oil |
2 cups whole wheat flour |
2 cups white flour |
1 tablespoon salt |
1/2 cup oats |
1/3 cup caraway seed |
1/3 cup sesame seeds |
1/3 cup cooked rice |
1/3 cup rye flakes |
1/3 cup wheat bran |
1/3 cup poppy seed |
Directions:
1. Stir together all wet ingredients. 2. Mix all dry ingredients, except poppy seeds. Let stand for 5 minutes. 3. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix together until just combined. Let stand for 10 minutes more. 4. Knead, and let rise for 1 1/2 hour. 5. Braid, and let rise 30 more minutes. Sprinkle poppy seeds on the outside. 6. Bake at 190 C / 375 F for 45 minutes. |
