I received this recipe from a friend many years ago and it is always a hit during the holidays. It's a little late for this year but try it next year! Ingredients:
6 eggs, separated |
1 cup sugar |
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla |
3 pints heavy whipping cream |
1 1/2 pints milk |
1 cup meyers dark rum |
1/2 cup powdered sugar |
nutmeg, for top |
Directions:
1. Mix 6 egg yolks and 1 cup sugar until lemony yellow. 2. Add cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Mix. 3. Add 1 1/2 pts heavy cream and 1 1/2 pts milk. Mix. 4. In a separate bowl, mix 6 egg whites with 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Beat until soft peaks form. Fold into above mixture. 5. Add 1 1/2 pts heavy cream that has been slightly beaten to thicken. Add 1 cup Dark Meyers Rum (or alcohol of choice). Mix. 6. Sprinkle top with nutmeg. |
