Egg Casserole (Mae Mcdonald's) |

Family Recipe. A MUST for Christmas morning. Ingredients:
12 ounces sourdough bread (thinely slice enough bread to cover top of casserole) |
1/2 cup butter (or enough to cover bread) |
1 teaspoon prepared mustard |
12 ounces monterey jack cheese (slice 1/4-inch thick, just enough to cover top of casserole) |
12 ounces ortega green chilies, cut into strips (again, just enough to cover casserole) |
12 ounces bacon, crumbled (or to taste) |
6 eggs |
3 cups milk |
Directions:
1. Grease 9 x13 pan. Mix butter and mustard. Spread on both sides of bread. Place one layer in bottom of pan. 2. Layer with cheese, then chilies, then bacon. Place another layer of bread on top. 3. Beat eggs and milk. Pour over casserole. Let rest overnight in refrigerator. Next morning bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. |
