another easy and quick cake to be made, taste just wonderful, You can put any icing that you desire on it to fancy it up!! Ingredients:
1/3 cup shortening |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 cup molasses |
1 1/2 cups flour |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder |
1 egg, unbeaten |
2/3 cup sour milk |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening, sugar, baking soda, and spices. Add molasses and 1/4 of the sifted flour, salt and baking powder. Beat in egg. Alternate sour milk with remaining flour mixture. Bake in a well-greased, lightly floured 8-inch square pan 40 minutes at 350°F.
