This batter makes good crispy vegetables. Ingredients:
1/4 cup flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
3/4 cup cornstarch |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 teaspoon sugar |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 cup water |
1 quart canola oil |
Directions:
1. Sift ingredients together. 2. Add egg and water. 3. Beat until smooth. 4. Pour oil into a deep skillet and heat to medium heat. 5. Dip vegetables a few at a time into the batter. 6. Drop into heated oil and fry 2 to 3 minutes, turn one time. 7. Cook until brown. 8. Drain on paper towels. |
