YUM and easy tomato soup! I add extra basil and a little less thyme. Ingredients:
4 tablespoons margarine |
4 tablespoons finely chopped onions |
6 tablespoons flour |
4 teaspoons sugar, as much as needed |
2 teaspoons salt, as much as needed |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1 teaspoon garlic salt |
1 teaspoon basil |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1/2 thyme |
1 quart tomato juice |
3 cups of cold milk |
Directions:
1. Saute onions and butter. 2. Blend together all other dry ingredients and add to onions. 3. Remove from heat. Gradually stir in 1 quart of tomato juice. 4. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. 5. Put in large bowl 3 cups cold milk. 6. Stir mixture into cold milk otherwise it will curtle. 7. Return to pan and heat almost til boiling. 8. Serve hot. |
