A way to keep salad greens crisp before serving. From Edna Staebler's Food that Really Schmecks. Ingredients:
3 tablespoons sugar |
1/2 cup vinegar |
1/2 cup water |
1 tablespoon salad oil |
Directions:
1. Blend the sugar, vinegar and water. Toss with the salad greens and keep in a cool place (up to several hours). 2. Just before serving, drain off the liquid, add it to the oil AND WHATEVER SEASONINGS YOU LIKE and toss again with your greens. |
