I like this recipe because it is so simple to make in the crockpot. Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) package dried split peas |
2 cups diced fully cooked lean ham |
1 cup diced carrot |
1 medium onion, chopped |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
2 bay leaves |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
5 cups boiling water |
1 cup hot milk |
Directions:
1. In a slow cooker, layer the first nine ingredients in order listed (do not stir). 2. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Stir in milk. 3. Discard bay leaves before serving. |
