I love this recipe for ease of preparation, and it can be made in one pan. You don't have to cook the macaroni seperately. I always deviate from the recipe somewhat, by putting more cheese on the top. Usually, parmesan, then chedder, and finally mozzerella. But the choice is yours. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
1 1/2 lbs ground beef |
2 medium onions, chopped |
1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, with liquid |
1 (12 ounce) can corn, with liquid |
1 cup elbow macaroni (uncooked) |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
2 teaspoons garlic salt |
4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. In a 12 inch skillet, over medium high heat, cook ground beef in vegetable oil, until browned, and broken up. drain, if necessary. Add onions,1 (28oz) can of tomatoes, with their liquid, 1 (12oz can) corn, with it's liquid, and seasonings. Add uncooked macaroni, and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat to med-low, cover, and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until macaroni is cooked. Sprinkle with the cheese, (may use any combination of cheese you like) cover for approximately another 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted. |
