A very moist, easy, basic brownie. Frezes well. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup cocoa |
2 cups sugar |
1 tablespoon hot water |
2 teaspoons instant coffee |
4 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 cup flour |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1 cup chopped nuts (optional) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. 2. Grease a 13x9 inch pan. 3. Melt shortening and butter over low heat or in the microwave. 4. Remove from heat and add cocoa, blend well. 5. Add sugar and mix well. 6. Dissolve instant coffee in hot water and mix into creamed mixture. 7. Add eggs one at a time, beat well, by hand, after each addition. 8. Stir in vanilla, flour, and salt. 9. Do not over beat. 10. Fold in nuts. 11. Bake 25-30 minutes or until almost set in center. 12. Cool completely. 13. Chill for a fudgier texture. |
