The Mille-feuille, meaning 'thousand sheets', vanilla slice, cream slice or custard slice, is a pastry made of several layers of puff pastry alternating with a sweet filling, typically pastry cream, but sometimes whipped cream, or both. Ingredients:
2 packets of sfogliatine biscuits (or bake your own puff pastry) |
1 whipping cream (see recipe) http://kopiaste.blogspot.com/2007/11/chantilly-cream-or-whipped-cream.html |
icing sugar |
cinnamon, to sprinkle on top |
pastry cream |
(see recipe and directions here) |

Directions:
1. To assemble the millefeuilles, place one layer of biscuits in a rectangle bowl and pour a layer of cream over it. 2. Add a second layer of biscuits and a second layer of cream. (Some times I add only one layer). 3. When the cream cools down, add a layer of whipping cream, crumble about two biscuits on top or collect the broken ones as they are very delicate and sprinkle some icing sugar and cinnamon on top. 4. Refrigerate at least one hour before eating. 5. /2008/06/millefeuilles.html |
