This is a basic recipe i got from Hillshire Farm. You can change it up anyway you want. I usually use two different hot sauces and add jalapenos. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 cup bell pepper, chopped (green, yellow, red) |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1 lb smoked sausage, cut into slices |
1 cup rice |
2 cups chicken broth |
3 tablespoons tabasco brand green pepper sauce |
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained |
cajun seasoning |
Directions:
1. melt butter in large heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell peppers, garlic, and sausage. Cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring often. 2. stir in rice, chicken broth, Tabasco sauce, tomatoes, and cajun seasoning to taste. mix well and bring to a boil. 3. reduce heat, cover, and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender. 4. remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes longer before fluffing with a fork. |
