I made my own curry powder from a combination of powdered spices: cumin, ginger, turmeric, garam marsala, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne, and cardamom. Ingredients:
2 cups water |
1/4 cup red lentils |
70 grams onion |
65 grams yam |
80 grams potato |
8 grams garlic |
8 grams ginger |
8 grams jalapeno |
2 teaspoons curry powder |
Directions:
1. put water in saucepan 2. add red lentils (be sure they are red because they cook really fast) 3. chop onion, potato, and yam then place in saucepan 4. bring to boil and reduce to simmer 5. add crushed garlic 6. cover with lid and cook about 15 minutes 7. stir in the spices and continue simmering about 10 to 15 more minutes 8. serve topped with some nonfat plain yogurt |
