this is an easy candy to make.. and for people who live in hot humid areas this is a recipe that should not crystallize on you.. the prep time does not include the freezing time of 4 hours Ingredients:
1 ( 14-ounce ) can sweetened condensed milk |
1/4 cup butter, melted |
1 tbsp. lemon juice |
8 cups sifted powdered sugar |
1 ( 7-ounce ) can flaked coconut |
1/2 cup toasted almonds, finely chopped |
16 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating |
Directions:
1. combine the condensed milk, butter, and the lemon juice...stir well 2. gradually stir in the powdered sugar.. mix well 3. add coconut and the almonds... mix well 4. shape into 3/4-inch balls. 5. cover and freeze 4 hours or until firm 6. put candy coating in top of a double boiler... bring water to a boil 7. reduce heat to low.. cook until the coating melts 8. remove from the heat but leave the coating over the water 9. using 2 forks dip frozen candy balls in melted coating 10. allow the excess to drip off 11. cool on wax paper 12. store in the refrigerator 13. .............................................................. 14. to make a nice presentation but the candies in paper candy cups 15. yields 8 dozen |
