Wings done in the pressure cooker are easy and delish- great for parties. My family liked these better than the fried version because these were juicy, flavorful and tender. I used my new electric pressure cooker for this recipe. Ingredients:
12 chicken wings, disjointed |
1, 18 0z bottle of favorite barbecue sauce ( smokey, sweet, etc ) |
1 large onion chopped |
2 tbs cooking oil |
1/4 cup red wine , optional |
gravy flour to thicken sauce ( optional ) |
Directions:
1. Use the brown foods setting in your electric pressure cooker to saute the onions till softened, keeping lid open 2. Add the chicken wings and cook and stir several minutes till browned a bit 3. Cancel the brown setting 4. Add your favorite sauce and wine if using and stir to coat wings well 5. Seal the pressure cooker and use a timing setting for 10 minutes 6. When cycle is complete, turn off cooker 7. Then use the release valve to release the steam 8. Remove wings to a serving platter. 9. To remaining sauce in pot, use the heat setting again and stir in some gravy flour to thicken sauce if desired 10. Serve wings on a platter with additional sauce in a bowl if desired 11. Note: if you have a large pressure cooker you can double the recipe as long as you follow manufacturer's instruction not to overfill the cooker 12. Note: careful using overly sweet sauces, as high sugar content could burn in the bottom of the pressure cooker pot. |
