Here's an incredibly easy and really good homemade sauce. The recipe, found several years ago on a package of locally-made tortillas, makes enough to replace one 15-ounce can of mild red enchilada sauce. Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 1/2 cups water |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/2 tablespoon onion flakes |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon chili powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/2 teaspoon paprika |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1 tablespoon parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Whisk together all ingredients except parmesan cheese in a saucepan; bring to boil, reduce heat and gently simmer 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. 2. Remove from heat and whisk in parmesan cheese. |
