This is a fast and easy recipe. Ingredients:
1/3 cup buter or margarine, softened |
1/2 tsp. mustard |
1 clove garlic, finely chopped |
10 slices white bread, crusts removed |
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
2 tbsp. chopped parsley |
2 tbsp. chopped onion |
1 tsp. salt |
1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce |
1/8 tsp. black pepper |
dash of cayenne pepper |
4 eggs |
2 1/2 cups milk |
Directions:
1. Mix butter, mustard and garlic. Spread over each slice of bread. Cut each slice into thirds. 2. Line bottom and sides of ungreased square (8 x 8 x 2 inches) baking dish with enough of the bread slices, buttered sides down. 3. Mix cheese, parsley, onion, salt, worcestershire sauce, pepper and cayenne pepper. Spread evenly over bread slices in dish. 4. Beat eggs, stir in milk. Pour over bread. 5. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours but no longer than 24 hours. 6. Heat oven to 325 degrees. 7. Bake uncovered about 1 hour 15 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. 8. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. |
