This is a recipe for easy caramel sauce another recipe from the Weekly times. It may be used as a topping for ice cream, cakes and puddings. Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar (white) |
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed |
3/4 cup water |
1/4 yoghurt |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Place the white sugar and brown sugar into a heavy saucepan. 2. Pour the water into the centre, then make a large X across the sugar with your fingertip to let the water seep through. 3. NOTE ~ Do not stir. 4. Turn up the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Without stirring, boil for 8 minutes. 5. Remove caramel from heat and once cooled, beat in yoghurt and vanilla extract. |
