This wonderful, rich brownie recipe comes from my late sister Pat. She was always collecting delicious recipes and this is one of the best! Nut lovers will love it! Ingredients:
1 cup margarine |
1 cup water |
4 tablespoons cocoa |
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour |
2 cups sugar |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
2 eggs, slightly beaten |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 1/2 cups pecans |
1/2 cup margarine |
4 tablespoons cocoa |
6 tablespoons buttermilk |
1 lb confectioners' sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 1/2 cups pecans |
Directions:
1. TO MAKE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Set aside. 2. Melt margarine, cocoa and water. Bring to a hard, rapid boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and pecans. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or tuntil a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. 3. TO MAKE FROSTING: Bring to a boil butter, cocoa and buttermilk.
