Super fast and easy beer bread - delicious with chili, soup or stews and makes excellent next-day sammies. You can throw in all kinds of extras - grated cheese, spices, whatever you like to jazz it up. You can also experiement with darker beers for nuttier flavors. Ingredients:
3 1/4 c self-rising flour |
2/3-3/4 c sugar (to your taste) |
1 beer - room temp (12.oz) |
2 eggs |
melted butter for brushing top of loaf (if desired) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 2. Mix eggs, sugar & beer. 3. Add flour & stir well. 4. Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. 5. Bake for 40- 45 mins until toothpick or knife inserted in center comes out clean. 6. Cool in pan 10-15 mins, turn out onto rack 7. Rub top with butter if desired. |
