These turkey burgers are fast, easy, and healthy! They are great on the grill and also freeze well. As a college student who is always looking for healthy, fast meals, it doesn't get any better than this. The night before, I take one burger out of the freezer and let it thaw in the fridge overnight/while I have class the next day. Once I get home, I just throw it on my forman grill and dinner's ready in about 5 minutes! I serve on Arnold Sandwich Thins with sauteed onions. Ingredients:
20 ounces ground turkey breast |
1 egg |
1/3 cup breadcrumbs |
1 tablespoon minced garlic clove (i use the kind pre-minced in a jar.) |
3 -4 tablespoons red onions, minced |
1/2-1 teaspoon ground ginger (according to your tastes) |
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce (more if you like) |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper |
Directions:
1. Start by putting the ground turkey in a large bowl. 2. Crack egg into the same bowl and scramble with a fork before mixing in the bread crumbs, garlic, onions, ground ginger, and soy sauce. 3. Mix together with a fork until just combined. Don't over-mix. 4. Form into 6 patties (I start with a 1/3 dry measuring cup and adjust the sizes from there). 5. At this point the burgers are ready for the grill OR the freezer. 6. TO GRILL:. 7. Grill about 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through (no pink in the middle). Will take less time if using a George Forman Grill. 8. Top with sauteed red onions if desired. 9. Serve on toasted/grilled sandwich thins. 10. TO FREEZE:. 11. After forming patties, arrange burgers on a cookie sheet and freeze. 12. Once solid, individually wrap the burgers in sandwich baggies. 13. Place baggies in a larger zip lock freezer bag or an air tight container. 14. Thaw before cooking. |
