Wonderfully easy recipe for apple dumplins'.This recipe is easy, fast and tasty. I found this recipe in an old church recipe book that belonged to my husband's grandmother. Ingredients:
5 medium tart apples (or pears) |
5 refrigerated buttermilk biscuits |
1 cup sugar (divided) |
1 1/2 cups water |
3 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Core applies. Pare or leave skins on. 2. Roll out each biscuit thinly using a rolling pin. (be sure to dust with flour). 3. Place an apple in the center of each biscuit. 4. Fill centers with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. (1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon). 5. Dot each apple with 2 teaspoons of margarine/butter. 6. Wrap up with apple in biscuit and seal with fingers. 7. Boil 2/3 cup sugar and water with 2 tablespoons of margarine/butter for 3 minutes. 8. Pour syrup around apples in flat casserole dish. 9. Bake at 425 degrees for 45-50 minutes. 10. *Best served hot and even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! |
