This recipe comes from a gal at work. A real treat to make after Lent is over. The taste is awesome. Ingredients:
8 eggs |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 cup cream |
1 cup milk |
1 cup water |
1 cup margarine |
1 fresh lemon rind, grated |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
10 -11 cups flour |
3 tablespoons yeast (quick rise) |
1/4 cup icing sugar |
1/4 cup water |
candy sprinkles |
Directions:
1. Bear egg whites till stiff. 2. Beat yolks with sugar. 3. Scald cream and milk. 4. Melt margarine. Put cream, milk margarine and water in a bowl. 5. Add egg yolk mixture. 6. Fold in egg whites, lemon rind and vanilla. 7. Mix 4 cups flour with yeast and add to above. 8. Add the rest of the flour. 9. Dough will be sticky. Let rise at least an hour. 10. Make into buns, place on greased sheets, cover and let rise again. Bake 325 for about 15 minutes. 11. When cool, mix glaze and top buns with glaze and candy sprinkles. |
