This is a truly simple lasagna recipe. The original recipe calls for 2lbs. of hamburger, 15oz Golden Grain marinara, and an entire box of noodles. I have always tried to tweak it just enough to make dinner for four. The secret is somewhere in the stand time, the longer the better for the noodles. This is an excellent make ahead and reheat dish. My husband says its even better the next day and I agree. Ingredients:
1 lb hamburger |
3/4 cup water |
26 ounces prego spaghetti sauce |
6 ounces cheddar cheese |
6 ounces monterey jack cheese |
1/4 cup parmesan cheese |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 cup cottage cheese |
8 lasagna noodles |
Directions:
1. Brown beef and strain fat. Add sauce, water and salt, bring to boil. 2. In a 2-qt baking dish, layer sauce, uncooked noodles then cottage cheese and shredded cheeses. Repeat layers ending with sauce on top. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 375°F for 1 hour. Let stand for 10 minutes then garnish with parmesan cheese. |
