You will not believe how super easy this toffee is, and the secret is saltines! It tastes absolutely divine and when the people you serve find out it is saltines, they won't believe it!!!!! Ingredients:
1 cup butter (or margarine) |
1 cup packed brown sugar |
approximately 35 saltines |
8 oz chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate) |
1/2 - 3/4 cup ground nuts |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400. 2. Line an 11 x 15 cookie sheet with foil, lay out saltines flat on pan. 3. Combine butter & sugar in saucepan. 4. Heat on medium until sugar dissolves and mixture becomes bubbly (about 5 minutes). 5. Pour over saltines and spread 6. Bake exactly 7 minutes at 400 degrees. 7. Sprinkle with chips and spread. When melted, sprinkle with nuts. 8. Refrigerate until cold. 9. Break into pieces. |
