This is a very quick dessert to throw together for that family outing. Ingredients:
1 (21-oz.) can cherry pie filling |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 (12-oz.) package baking mix |
1/4 cup butter, melted |
2 tbsp. cinnamon-sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat 20 charcoal briquettes. 2. Line Dutch oven with foil. 3. Preheat Dutch oven near coals. 4. Combine pie filling and sugar in oven. 5. Heat over 8 coals until mixture comes to a boil. 6. Combine baking mix and enough water to make a soft dough in bowl. 7. Drop by spoonfuls over cherry mixture. 8. Cover and top with remaining coals. 9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. 10. Brush with butter; sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. 11. Note: If several families are camping together, have each be responsible for planning and preparing a meal. 12. This adds variety and spreads the work around. |
