Ingredients:
pastry for 1 double-crust (9-inch) pie |
1/2 cup sugar |
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1/4 cup orange juice |
1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup |
2 1/2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted |
8 medium-size cooking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced |
Directions:
1. Roll half of pastry to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; fit into a 9-inch pie plate. Set aside. 2. Combine sugar, flour, nutmeg, orange juice, syrup, and butter in a large mixing bowl; stir well. Add apples, stirring lightly to coat; spoon filling into pastry shell. 3. Roll remaining pastry to 1/8- inch thickness; place over filling. Trim edges; seal and flute. Cut slits in top crust to allow steam to escape. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.
