DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE CAKE DATED 1867 This recipe came my from my Grandmother's collection that I inherited when I inherited the family collection in 1980. Notation on card indicates this came from Peterson's Magazine, February 1867. Ingredients:
1 pound flour |
1 pound currants |
3/4 pound granulated sugar |
1/2 pound butter |
half the peel of a lemon |
1/2 pound citron |
8 eggs |
3 tablespoons brandy |
Directions:
1. Whisk all ingredients together then pour into a tube pan. 2. Bake at 250 for 2-1/2-hours. |
